The rupee slid on the interbank market while it showed no variation against the dollar on the open market on Monday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee shed four-paisa in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 100.79 and Rs 100.81 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was unmoved in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.10 and Rs 101.30 respectively, while it lost 25-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 117.00 and Rs 117.25, they said.
In the first Asian trading, the euro flirted with 11-year lows as investors braced for the European Central Bank to take its boldest steps yet to combat deflation and revive the euro zone economy. The common currency last traded at $1.1557, not far from a trough of $1.14595 hit on Friday. Against the yen, it fetched 135.17, near a three-month low of 134.70. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 61.67, the Greenback was at 3.5625 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.2174 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee recovered some of its earlier loss and gained five-paisa against the US dollar on the local currency market on Monday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at its last week closing of Rs 101.30 and Rs 101.55 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. In the absence of buyers’ interest, the dollar was declined to Rs 101.25 and Rs 101.50 on buying and selling side, respectively, the dealers said.
Similarly, the rupee showed strength and was appreciated against the pound sterling. The pound’s buying and selling rates were decreased from last Saturday closing of Rs 153.10 and Rs 153.35 to Rs 152.75 and Rs 153.00, respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained strength against the dollar on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The dollar opened at Rs 100.75 (buying) and Rs 101 (selling) against last rate of Rs 101 (buying) and Rs 101.25 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 100.75 (buying) and Rs 101 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 152 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 152 (buying) and Rs 153 (selling).
