KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed the police officials to take special security measures in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and in particular on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal during Milad and Naat congregations and processions.
According to a statement, he was presiding over a meeting at CCPO office here on Thursday.
DIGs of different zones, DIG CIA, DIG Special Branch, DIG CID and DIG Crime branch attended the meeting.
Jamali instructed the officers to ensure the implementation of section 144 in the province.
He also ordered that no vehicle be allowed in designated areas of the processions and other programmes on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
He directed the concerned officials to ensure installation of walk-through gates at main congregation area Nishtar Park.
During meeting the police chief was informed that over 290 processions would be taken out from different zones whereas around 390 Milad and Naat events would be held.
He was further informed that more than 5,000 cops would be deployed for the security of main procession.
Apart from that according to the report in East, West and South Zones from 1st to 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1,334 congregations are being organised including 500 processions which are being guarded by 29,317 police officers and personnel.
