KARACHI: Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan on Tuesday said K-IV water supply scheme alongwith S-III sewerage disposal scheme are lifeline for Karachi, initiated with the support of the Chinese investors.
Talking to a delegation of Chinese investors, led by Zhu Yujian, chairman, Jiangsu Huachang Chemicals, that called on him at the Governor House here, he said the cordial relationship between Pakistan and China are extensively endorsed by the people of the two countries.
“It is on basis of this bondage that the Sindh Government is keen to have Chinese investments for its series of mega-projects,” said the Governor.
The tremendous achievements made by China in the field of agriculture can also be replicated in Sindh through proper guidance and support of Chinese agriculture scientists.
“This is extremely relevant as Sindh is enormously blessed with natural resources and these if adequately developed can significantly strengthen national economy,” said Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan.
He said that while natural resources hold their own peculiar relevance the agriculture sector in Sindh also needs to be promoted on scientific lines.
Sindh Governor regretted that it was lack of value addition that has denied the agricultural products and crops of the country to clinch adequate returns in the international markets.
“Since the government believes in a holistic approach hence attention is also being paid towards progress of agriculture sector on strong lines so as to ensure that the people dependent on the sector attain optimum benefits,” he said.
Reiterating that Pakistan’s economy can significantly improve through Chinese investment, Sindh Governor said this would ultimately help the region to develop as a vibrant economic zone.
Zhu Yujian said he and his compatriots consider Pakistan to be their second home and Pakistanis their trusted friend.
He in particular context of Sindh said the province with Karachi as its capital holds every potential to emerge as an economic zone with its significant contribution towards financial stability of the entire country.
