Consumers demand action against illegal use of compressor

ISLAMABAD: The consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) Rawalpindi region Thursday demanded action against the illegal use of compressors by some people, causing low gas pressure.

The consumers said that use of compressors on connection of Sui gas is not only illegal but also dangerous in houses.

Muhammad Adeel, a resident of Satellite Town said that some people are using compressors to increase gas pressure in their houses and creating problems for their neighbors, which is not only illegal but also disturbing their supply.

“We have been deprived of gas for weeks because some houses in our surroundings are using compressor,” said Tahir Khan, a resident of Muslim Town, Sadiqabad. We are deprived of gas because of this illegal practice,” he added.

When contacted an official of SNGPL, said that it is an illegal practice and we would take strict legal action against the violators. He said that SNGPL has started removing compressors from houses on  complaints of low gas pressure in various localities.

He said that customer service center is working round the clock to address complaints and they will carry out on the spot checking on complaints of low pressure.
