KARACHI: Ace batsman Younis Khan and paceman Umar Gul returned to Pakistan’s One-day squad while Fawad Alam was over looked for the 5-match series against New Zealand starting next week, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday.
Younis, who was not considered in Pakistan squad for one-day series against Australia was recalled after an outstanding batting in Test series against Australia and New Zealand. Umar Gul was also included in the team after recovering from knee injury.
Opening batsman Ahmed Shahzad was also returned to the team after being hit on head on the first Test against New Zealand.
“Following its recommendation by the six-member selection committee headed by former captain Moin Khan, Chairman PCB Shaharyar M. Khan has approved 14 and 16-member squads for the two T20 and the first two one-day internationals against New Zealand respectively.
Twenty20 Internationals will be played on December 4-5 at Dubai International Stadium with opening one-day will be played at same venue on December 8.
“Both the squads are nicely balanced. And I expect Team Pakistan to perform to its potential in both the T20Is and ODIs,” Chief selector Moin Khan said.
“This is our final opportunity to test all our potential players before the ICC World Cup 2015. That is why we have tried to induct all our fit players in contention for a slot.
This is also pretty much the last opportunity for the players to perform and cement their places in the World Cup squad,” Moin quoted as saying.
