The government said on Monday that an anti-terrorism operation would be launched against terrorists hiding in cities, small towns and villages. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who chaired a meeting to review a national counter-terrorism plan, was briefed by the Interior Minister on a meeting with joint experts’ group. The prime minister said that the Zarb-e-Azb operation is going on in tribal arias while the other will be against “enemies” hiding in cities, small towns and villages. A decisive action would be taken against terrorists who spilled the blood of innocent people in various parts of the country, he added.
Nawaz Sharif said the government would not differentiate between terrorists and their protectors. Terrorism and sectarianism are like a cancer for Pakistan and now it is high time for getting rid of this menace, he added. He reportedly directed his legal team to complete the pending or slow-moving execution process in cases against terrorists as soon as possible. He added that those who have been involved in killing of innocent men, women, elderly people and children do not deserve mercy. The Prime Minister has reportedly directed Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) to take steps to ensure speedy trial of pending cases against terrorists. Federal Ministers for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan; Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, Minister SAFRON, Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (retd) as well as Special Assistants to PM, Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed and Barrister Zafarullah and AGP attended the meeting.
