London : Leicester City on Sunday axed their director of football Terry Robinso who has paid the price for a season which has left the Midlanders rock bottom of the Premier League.
The club said that Jon Rudkin, the director of the club’s academy, will move into the slot vacated by Robinson who had overall responsibility for the club’s transfer policy.
“Leicester City Football Club has terminated the contract of its Director of Football, Terry Robinson. He departs with immediate effect and with the best wishes of everyone at the Football Club,” said a statement.
Of the club’s 10 summer arrivals only three — Esteban Cambiasso, Danny Simpson and Ben Hamer — started Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City, and Hamer was only in the side because of injury to Kasper Schmeichel.
Leicester have not won since beating Manchester United on September 21 and have lost eight of the last nine matches as they plummeted to the bottom of the Premier League.
However, the job of coach Nigel Pearson is not believed to be in danger.
