ISLAMABAD:-The country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation rate during November 2014 witnessed a decrease of 0.51 percent over October 2014.
On year-on-year basis, the CPI inflation increased by 3.96 percent in November 2014 as compared to same period of last year.
The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) and Sensitive Prices Index (SPI) in November also decreased by 0.99 percent and 1.13 percent respectively when compared to October 2014.
The food items that witnessed increase in the prices during November 2014 over October 2014 included eggs (8.71%), pulse moong (5.42%), vegetables (4.41%) and dry fruits (2.1%).
The food items that witnessed decrease in the prices during the period under review over previous month included tomatoes (29.06%), onions (18.75%), potatoes (7.57%), sugar (3.3%) and fresh fruits (2.36%).
The non-food items that witnessed increase during the month included woolen readymade garments (6.89%) and postal services (2.36%).
The non-food items that witnessed decrease during the month included transport services (11.01%), motor fuel (6.12%) and kerosene oil (5.29%).
On year-on-year basis the food items that witnessed increase in their prices during November 2014 over same month of last year included pulse moong (24.15%), cigarettes (22.38%), pulse mash (21.58%), fresh fruits (20.08%) and pulse masoor (15.09%).
The food items that witnessed decrease during the period under review included tomatoes (65.82%), onions (43.89%) and tea (15.14%).
The non food items which increased in the month as compared to November 2013 included motor vehicle tax (36.71%) and woolen readymade garments (17.23%).
The non food items which decreased during the month included kerosene oil (12.25%) and motor fuel (9.83%).
During the month of November, 2014 over November 2013, the trimmed core inflation has been observed as 5.3 percent while it was 9.2 percent during November, 2013 over November, 2012.
Similarly non-food and non-energy core inflation during the month of November, 2014 over November, 2013, has been observed as 6.9% while it was 8.5 percent during November, 2013 over November, 2012.
