Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid on Friday tendered his resignation. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spokesman Dr Musadik Malik confirmed during a press briefing that Zahid Hamid has resigned. However, he added, the resignation is yet to be approved. His resignation would be discussed with a legal team.
Talking to Business Recorder Zahidullah Khan, the spokesperson for the Ministry, said that Zahid Hamid attended his office on Friday; however after receiving the news about court decision, the minister left the office. He confirmed the news about his resignation. According to him, the minister resigned “on the highest moral ground.”
Earlier, Zahid Hamid served as Law Minister for the incumbent government but later vacated the post on account of his inclusion in the treason case. Official sources claimed the government is likely to give the charge of the Science and Technology ministry to the State Minister for Information Technology, Anusha Rehman.
