LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Saturday ordered registration of cases against persons respnsible for tragic incidents of deaths of innocent babies in the hospitals of Vehari and Sargodha.
The Chief Minister also ordered their immediate arrest and strict legal action against them and said that such elements should be awarded deterrent punishment so that no one could dare to commit such criminal negligence in future.
He directed immediate action against supply of syrup and substandard injections and registration of cases against the owners of concerned factories, their arrest and strict legal action.
He said this while presiding over a high level meeting here which reviewed in detail various steps taken with regard to further improving public health facilities in the province.
Reports of inquiry committees regarding the incidents of Vehari and Sargodha were presented in the meeting which were reviewed in detail.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that action should be taken against those involved in the business of spurious medicines.
Shahbaz Sharif directed senior officials of Health Department that a
comprehensive planning should be made for eradication of such incidents in future and provision of all necessary facilities be ensured in the hospitals.
He said that special attention should be paid to the mother and child healthcare and besides improving management system, existence of effective mechanism of monitoring is utmost essential in the hospitals.
The Chief Minister directed that a programme should be chalked out with regard to providing training to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff according to modern demands and special attention should be paid to the capacity-building of the staff.
