KARACHI: Pakistan duo of Muhammad Sajjad and Hamza Akbar all advanced in the knockout rounds of IBSF World Snooker Championship after winning their league matches Monday night.
Former Asian championship runners-up Sajjad overwhelmed Brijesh Damani of India in four straight frame 4-0 to remain unbeaten in Group “P”.Damani, too advanced with three wins.
Hamza Akbar ended his outing in style when smashed a break of 127 in the opening frame to rout Vinicius Da Silva Fucuta of Brazil 4-0.Hamza won the match 127-0, 92-0, 79-49, 59-9.
China’s Zhao Xintong, last year’s runner-up, warmed up for the knockout phase with a thumping 4-0 win over Muhammad Faaris Kahn of South Africa, a break of 121 marking his progress.
Joining Xintong in the last 64 were Iran’s Amir Sarkhosh, Thor Chuan Leong of Malaysia, Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn (Thailand), Hamza Akbar (Pakistan), Gareth Allen (Wales), Yan Bingtaon (China), Karam Fatima (Syria), Boonyarit Keattikun (Thailand), Lee Chun Wai (Hong Kong), Michael Judge (Ireland) and Lucas Kleckers (Germany).
