ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar on Friday conducted a surprise visit to health counter at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
The minister examined the working of staff deployed at the departure lounge, who are responsible to vaccinate travelers against polio and verifying polio vaccination certificates of vaccinated travelers.
The Minister also checked the working of health personnel at the arrival lounge who were responsible to screen passengers for Ebola Virus Disease.
She directed the health staff to perform duties vigilantly and that there should be no negligence. On the occasion, she issued direction to take action against a doctor who was absent from his duty.
She said, “We are giving top priority to implementing international health regulations and cannot afford any slackness in its implementation.”
Secretary Health directed the deployed staff to check each and every passenger and ensure that they travel only in possession of valid vaccination certificates.
