QUETTA: One boy has been killed and over 20 others including two security men have been injured in a roadside bomb blast on Double Road in the provincial capital, here on Tuesday morning.
Police said that unknown men planted explosives in a car and parked it roadside on Double Road area which exploded when vehicle of DSP Shalkot Police Station and squad of a judge was passing through the area, resulting in death of a boy and injuring of over 20 others.
“The car bomb was detonated when DSP Shalkot and squad of a judge was passing through the area,” police said adding that the powerful explosion that rocked the entire area killed a boy and over 20 others among them two security personnel of the squad.
The rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the dead and injured to nearby hospital. According to police, most of the injured were passersby and shopkeepers who were on way to their offices or shops. According to doctors, condition of some injured was critical who were referred to Combined Military Hospital.
Police further said that several vehicles parked or passing through the area were destroyed in the bomb blast and windowpanes of nearby buildings were smashed.
The law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the entire area.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch immediately taking notice of the incident directed Inspector General Police, Aamlesh Khan to submit report before him in this regard.
