KARACHI: President of the Catholic Association,Herbert Fernandes in a statement on Thursday regretted that a PTI MNA, despite passage of more than a week has shown no morose nor withdrawn
his remarks about non Muslims.
This, he said was despite the fact that the MNA from Mardan has violated the constitution as well as law of the country by allegedly citing all non muslims, including Christians, as “Kafirs”.
Herbert Fernandes said this clearly established that the PTI MNA should be tried for defamation, under Blasphemy Law, for using abusive and derogatory language against the Christians who are Ahl e Kitaab.
“When christians can be and are often falsely framed under Blasphemy law why not the MNA for insulting Ahl e Kitaab,” said the President, Catholic Association.
He, alongwith General Secretary for Catholic Association Sardar Iqbal, urged all political parties and their leaders, to address the Christians, Hindus, Parsees and Sikhs as Pakistani citizens and not minorities.
