ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday said a comprehensive communication strategy was in process for promotion of immunization of children against diseases including polio as their right.
The Prime Minister expressed these views at a ceremony held in connection with the World Polio Day here at the PM’s House, where he administered anti-polio vaccine to the polio-affected children and met their parents.
The Prime Minister said the strategy would call upon the all segments of society to ensure the children are given the right of immunization.
Talking to the parents of affected children, the Prime Minister expressed the commitment of the government towards eradicating polio, for which he said all resources were being made available.
He said the PM’s Office had recently launched Polio Eradication Initiative for directly monitoring and reviewing progress on this matter of utmost importance.
He said also a Prime Minister’s Focus Group for Polio Emergency had been constituted to hold monthly meetings to assess the performance of the polio eradication program.
