Sindh Govt to seek legal advice on divestment of OGDCL

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has  said that the matters pertaining to natural resources be settled in accordance with 18th amendment in the constitution to avoid any  confusion.

This he observed while presiding over a meeting regarding divestment of 10% share of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) here on Tuesday.

The Adviser to CM for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotyana, Secretary Energy Agha Wasif, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Law Mir Muhammad Shaikh, Additional Advocate General and other officers attended the meeting.

The participants discussed the Federal Government move  for divestment  of 10% share of (OGDCL) and status of prevailing litigation on the issue  in detail.

It was decided that Sindh Government should follow the constitution and obtain further clear interpretation from senior lawyers about its partnership/ownership before playing its role in litigation.

The meeting was informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  Government had  challenged the divestment move by Federal Government and got stay from the high court.

The Federal Government has challenged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s petition in the apex court, and matter was yet to be decided.
