SIAD campaign to begin in Central, West districts from Tuesday

KARACHI: The first Supplementary Immunization Additional Dosage (SIAD) campaign for selected areas of Karachi could not take off in its Central and West districts due to non availability of required police security.

Officials talking to APP said the campaign was scheduled to be held from October 20 to 22 at 13 highest risks areas located in eight super high risk UCs in the megapolis.

“We are, however, positive to start with it surely from tomorrow and continue it till Thursday,” said the authorities.

During the exercise a target population of 718085 under five children are to administered oral polio vaccines by 2149 polio workers under the supervision of 582 area in-charges.

In district central only 187 teams have been constituted to cover a population of 62,319 children under the supervision of 48 area in-charges.

Moreover, children could also be brought by their parents to 49 fixed sites so as to get vaccinated their children against the crippling disease.

Fourteen union council medical officers from district central were said to be directly involved in the campaign.
