LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said, the government, as per its promise, is completing the process of distribution of first installment of compensation for flood affectees.
CM Shahbaz Sharif said this while visiting payment centres for flood affectees in Tehsil Laliyan, Chiniot, and Athara Hazari in Jhang on Thursday.
Shahbaz said, a foolproof system has been evolved so that financial assistance could be provided to deserving flood affectees as early as possible, payment process is being monitored at the lower level through digital monitoring system and he is supervising the process personally.
He said that rehabilitation of flood-hit people is not mere a responsibility but a national obligation. He said, he will continue to visit flood-stricken families until the process of rehabilitation is completed. He said, payment of first installment of Rs 25,000 per family for rehabilitation will be completed before Eid ul Azha while payment process of second installment will start from October 20 on the basis of survey of losses of crops, houses and cattle.
The Chief Minister said, Punjab government has allocated funds of billions of rupees for the relief and rehabilitation of flood-hit people, out of which, 50 percent share has been contributed by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on behalf of Federal government so that devastated people could stand on their own feet.
