Senator Pervaiz Rashid rejects allegations of Tahirul Qadri

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid has rejected allegations made by PAT chief Tahir-ul-Qadri that the government had planned or instigated the attack on PTV Headquarters, as baseless and an attempt to hide facts.

In a statement on Thursday, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that PAT chief had himself claimed victory after protestors had assaulted PTV Headquarters and taken it over when he urged them through media to return as the objective had been achieved.

This is a matter of public record and was aired by the independent media, he added. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that the objective of the protestors was only known to Allama Tahirul Qadri as he proudly claimed to have accomplished the objective of occupying the PTV Headquarters.

Mr Qadri, the Minister said, is now not being able to live with this guilt and is levelling baseless and false allegations against the government.

Qadri should apologize to the people of Pakistan by admitting that the act of assaulting the PTV Headquarters was a blunder, the minister suggested.
