MULTAN: The Polling process for by-polls in NA-149 began amid tight security arrangements here in the city.
This seat of National Assembly fell vacant after resignation of Mukhdoom Javed Hashmi. As many as 286 polling stations with 774 polling booths have been set up in the constituency.
Out of these 144 polling stations have been reserved for men and 142 for women. Rangers have been deployed at 107 stations declared sensitive, and kept into A category. While 96 in B-category and 83 were placed in C-category.
To maintain security arrangements, 3500 police officials are performing duty. Police officials were also patrolling in the city.
Supporters of the candidates have set up camps to facilitate voters at different locations in the city.
The offices of district government and schools were closed by the government to facilitate the voters to exercise their right of franchise.
