KARACHI: Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali has ordered the department to tighten security arrangements for minority communities on the eve of Diwali.
In his directives issued on Monday, he said fool-proof security must be high alert around all temples (Mandirs) and places of religious sanctity for the Hindu community across the province.
“Since worshippers would be visiting the mandirs during the three day celebrations therefore all measures must be adopted for the security of premises and protection of the citizens,” said the IGP.
Asking his subordinates to develop fool proof plan in close coordination with public representatives as well as those belonging to the hindu and other minority communities, IG Jamali said absolute care towards sensitivities of the minorities must also be ensured.
He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the police and be extremely vigilant of any suspicious activity taking place around them.
“Noticing any vehicles left abandoned near mandir or any public place,” must be immediately reported to the police officials if possible directly or through police helpline 15,” said the police chief.
