Nine suspected militants, reportedly associated with banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were killed by police during an exchange of firing here on Sunday, police claimed. They added that the clash between the suspected militants and police took place when a search operation was under way in Mian Khan Goth, near National Highway following receiving an intelligence report about the presence of TTP militants.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rao Anwar told, media that the terrorists after seeing that they have been surrounded by police, opened fire on police and in retaliatory firing, nine terrorists were killed.
A rickshaw full of explosives and a large quantity of weapons were recovered from the hideout of the terrorists, he said, adding that none of the policemen received injuries in the shootout.
