KARACHI: Pakistan’s largest basmati rice exporter, Matco in continuation of its effort to improve the lives of persons with disabilities has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Network of Organizations Working for People with Disabilities, Pakistan (NOWPDP).
The MoU was signed by Jawed Ali Ghori, Chairman, Matco Rice and Amin Hashwani, Chairman, NOWPDP on Monday evening at the launching ceremony of Matco’s Brown Rice to cater to the growing demand of its health and taste conscious consumers across the globe including Pakistan.
As per the MoU, Matco Rice will share the profit that is earned through the sales of Falak Brown Basmati rice for NOWPDP’s social welfare projects.
Chairman, Matco Rice, Jawed Ali Ghori sharing his views on the collaborative efforts to create inclusive society for persons with disabilities said Matco Rice believes in empowering persons with disabilities by including them in the socio-economical development of Pakistan.
” Our collaboration with NOWPDP will give these special persons a chance to prove their potential,” he said.
About launch of the brown rice, Ghori said with the escalating health consciousness among people, demand for fibre-rich products has increased.
“Matco has always believed in delivering healthy and high-quality whole grain brown rice to its consumers,” he added Jawed Ghori also referred to a research conducted by American Diabetic Association, consumption of whole grain Brown Rice reduces the chances of diabetes significantly.
The research highlighted that besides being low in cholesterol; whole grain rice like brown rice is also rich in insoluble fibre that can possibly protect against many types of cancers.
