LG polls be held in PKK with consensus of all parties: Zahid

ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) spokesman Senator Zahid Khan Sunday said the local government (LG) polls should be held in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa with the consensus of all political parties.

Various political parties, including the ANP, had serious reservations on the Local Government Act and might challenge it in the court of law, he said talking to APP.

He said the ANP was againt giving power to the chief minister to remove elected representatives in the local body system.

Replying to a question, he said the ANP had no intention to join the federal government.

He called for launching an operation on the pattern of Malakand division to purge Karachi of all sorts of crimes. Mafias of land grabbing, and drugs and weapons, and extortionists should be targetd without any discrimination to restore law and order in the commercial hub of country, he added.

He demanded that Karachi should be declared as a trade and education city after cleansing of weapons and mafias.

He also suggested next general and local bodies elections should be
held under biomatric system after completion of fresh census and delimitations.
