Karachi: Toxic liquor claims 24 lives

KARACHI: As many as 24 people have died while condition of 21 others is critical after consuming toxic liquor in Karachi, Aaj News reported.

The deaths have been confirmed by Dr. Semin Jamali, incharge emergency department of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center JPMC.

According to the reports, the victims were mainly brought from the slum areas of Landhi and Korangi last night.

Liquor was purchased from dens in Sharafi Goth and Shah Latif, police said.

Police have launched crackdown against homemade liquor dens and have arrested two accused from Sharafi Goth.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to the use of poisonous liquor recently, more than two dozen people died in Hyderabad and Tandojam.
