ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi Tuesday stressed the need for determining the legal status of Engineering Development Board (EDB) through legislation as soon as possible.
Chairing the 33rd meeting of the EDB Board of Management (BoM), the minister also directed that the activities of EDB should be aligned with its given mandate, focusing on development of Engineering Sector of the country.
He said that the Service Rules and the Promotion Policy presented to the Board should be finalized at the earliest for the career development of EDB employees.
The Board also approved the revision in pay and allowances of the employees.
The Automotive Sector was discussed in detail.
The Board suggested that balanced Automotive Policy should be introduced for promotion of the local Auto Industry and for bringing quality vehicles on reasonable prices for the consumers.
During the proceedings of the meeting, committees of the Board members were formed to examine the ongoing activities and projects of EDB and to give suggestions for their improvement to benefit the Industrial Sector.
Earlier, the Minister and CEO, EDB welcomed the members of the newly constituted Board.
The Board members were given a detailed presentation on performance and achievements of EDB.
