IGP Sindh reviews security arrangements for Moharram

HYDERABAD: The Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali while emphasizing the need of close coordination with Ulema of all sects, peace committees and other stakeholders has asked officers of the police right from Station House Officers to Senior superintendents of Police to make foolproof security arrangements during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

Presiding over a meeting with the police officers of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas Regions here on Friday, the IGP Sindh said that the sanctity of the month should be maintained at all cost by making comprehensive arrangements and security during the month.

He asked them to activate the intelligence network with setting up the monitoring rooms and installations of closed circuit cameras. All stakeholders including Ulema of all sects, organizers of mourning organizations and representatives of peace committees should also be taken onboard, he added.

He also directed removal of wall chalking which could hurt the feelings of the people and ensure due security cover to mourning processions, places of Majalis-e-Aza and Imambragahs. The leaves of all natures should also be cancelled while strict monitoring of anti-social elements, activists of banned organizations and the persons nominated in the fourth schedule should also be carried out with checking of hotels and rest houses on daily basis as well as the internal and external routes, he added.

The Senior Superintendents of Police and the DIG Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas Regions briefed the IGP Sindh about the arrangements being made for maintaining law and order during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram in their areas.
