Heavy rain in Peshawar destroys slum areas

PESHAWAR: Heavy rainfall has been observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa particularly Peshawar, due to which the water has entered the slum areas as well as become a hurdle for vehicular traffic to pass by within the provincial metropolis.

According to the reports, the affected areas include Zaryab Colony, Afghan Colony, Supply Road, Dilazak Road, Yousafabad, Rasheedabad, Madina Colony, Gulbahar Colony, Namak Mandi, Khyber Bazar, Qisa Khawani Bazar, Board Bazar and Rampora Gate area.

The sources revealed that the canals have overflowed, due to which the water has entered into the areas, houses and fields, destructing the life of people in the province. The heavy rainfall has also shut down the electricity in many area, as well as the telephone landlines in some areas.
