ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 : The authorities have placed under house arrest the Hurriyet leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and arrested other leaders during crackdown operations in different parts of the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The authorities confined Syed Ali Gilani, and Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai to their residences in Srinagar and Mukhtar Waza in Islamabad town, KMS reported.
The authorities arrested Hurriyet leaders and activists including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Mir Hafizullah, Muhammad Ayaz Akbar, Muhammad Abdullah Tari, Bashir Ahmed Butt, Ghulam Rasool Dar Edhi, Mir Siraj-ud-din Daood, Muhammad Rafiq War, Gulzar Ahmed Butt, Nazir Ahmed Rather, Muhammad Jammal Dar, Abdul Ahad Ganai, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Bashir Ahmed Wani, Hakeem Showkat, Asadullah Parry, Meraj Din Nanda, Muhammad Amin Ahangar, Muhammad Amin Parray, Ghulam-du-din, Ghulam Hassan Dar, Abdul Hameed Hajan, Bilal Ahmed, Saif-ud-din Mir and Habibullah Gojri during crackdown operations and detained them in different police stations.
The actions have been taken to prevent the leaders from leading campaign for the boycott of the so-called Kashmir Assembly elections being held from November 25, this year, in the territory.
Indian police also raided the houses of Hurriyet leaders and activist including Javed Ahmed Mir, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Abdul Ahad Parra, Raja Meraj-ud-din, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Muhammad Shaban, Muhammad Yousuf Lone, Rayees Ahmed and Salman Yousuf.
