Gilani for strong parliament

MULTAN: Former prime minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday the parliament being representative of 180 million people, should be more strong and powerful.

Talking to journalists here at airport, he said if there was a weak parliament, the people would talk about other alternatives.

About mid-term elections, Gilani said that it was the prerogative of the government to take a decision in this regard.

Gilani claimed that the PPP’s public meeting in Karachi was one of the biggest ones of the country’s history. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto would make a new team comprising mostly youth, he added.

To another question about PPP’s performance in by-elections in NA-149, he said they had no time to campaign for the party candidate. They had to start campaign for PPP candidate Dr Javed Siddique after delay due to refusal of Amir Dogar, who used by a party candidate in previous election.
