Dawood Chowrangi to be developed to improve traffic flow

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi has said that traffic flow at Dawood Chowrangi, Landhi, will be improved with the installation of new signals, removal of encroachments and development of intersection in accordance with the new design.

The commissioner, chairing a meeting at his office here on Monday, said  that Dawood Chowrangi is an important roundabout which links important industrial zone to the National Highway and it is imperative to take measures to improve traffic flow on Dawood Chowrangi.

The meeting was told that besides a fresh road lining, encroachments removal from nullah situated near the Dawood Chowrangi and re-construction of the nullah are also under consideration.

He said that improvement will be brought in the traffic system by enhancing traffic signals and intersections.

President Landhi Association of Trade and Industry (LATI), Hussain Quli Khan, former president LATI Zaid Bashir, DG Technical Services KMC Niaz Ahmed Soomro, SE Malir KMC Rahim Bakhsh Soomro, Director Planning and Development Commissioner Office, Syed Muhammad Shakeeb and others were also present.

Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi said that it is good that now important decisions are being taken with the coordination and harmony among the public sector wings, cooperate sector and business community.

He said that keeping in view the increasing traffic burden, attention be paid on alternate routes and these should be improved. Awareness should also created among masses in this regard, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Hussain Quli Khan said that the business community will fully cooperate with the government in the development of the city, particularly, the industrial areas.
