Beggars throng twin cities, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

ISLAMABAD: As Eid-ul-Azha is just approaching ,a large number of beggars from rural areas and small cities throng to the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Professional beggars with a big number of children use different tactics to attract motorists and shoppers at various places in twin cities including markets.

A motorist Muhammad Akram said professional beggars have deployed their children at all traffic signals and markets who use filthy tactics to get something.

He said unwanted wind screen cleaners, operating freely at traffic signals of Islamabad Highways not only create nuisance for motorists but also pose a serious security threat.

Despite tall claims of law enforcement agencies to ensure foolproof security arrangements, they were present as usual every busy traffic junctions like Koral, Fazaia, Dhoke Kala Khan and Shakarparian said Muhammad Naeem another motorist.

These locations fall in the VIP movement area and presence of such elements can cause any untoward incident, especially at a time when Eid-ul-Azha is approaching.

When contacted, a police spokesman however rejected the impression of free working of beggars and wind screen cleaners saying that the capital police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the area.

He said police have been arrested many beggars from different locations of the Capital “some of these have been sent to jail after registering cases against them under the relevant Act, while others handed over to Edhi centres”.
