Army calls emergency meeting to assist govt on Cyclone Nilofar

QUETTA: Commander Southern Command, Lieutenant General Nasser Khan Janjua on Wednesday called emergency meeting in the Southern command to review the situation arises from the fast approaching Cyclone Nilofar and strategy to assist Balochistan government.

General officers commanding (GOCs) and other officials attended the meeting.

“Army would make every effort to assist the affected families in the coastal belt of the province,” Lt Gen Janjua said and called for establishing coordination cell among Army, Frontier Corps and district administration for speedy relief to the catastrophe-stricken families.

He said that the government of Balochistan alone could not tackle the situation arising from the calamity. It is the prime responsibility of the Army men to extend their all-out support to the people hit by the disaster.

He directed the Army officials to send the troops in the possible affected areas or the evacuation of the people to safer places and other assistance to the district administration.

We would not leave the people of Balochistan in the time of trial and would leave no stone unturned in providing them maximum relief.
