LAHORE: The annual general body meeting of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been convened on October 10 to give final shape to its annual election schedule.
President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zakaria Usman told APP Saturday the annual elections of the all 57 chambers of commerce and industries including seven women chambers and 103 registered trade associations affiliated with federation, had already been completed across the country on September 30.
All newly elected Presidents,Senior Vice President,Vice Presidents along with their corporate and chamber class executive members had also assumed their responsibilities.
He said that all chambers will nominate two members each for executive committee and general body of the federation who will finally elect through ballot new federation president, 1 SVP, 10 VPs and 1 VP each against women and small traders seats.
He said that as per rotation, now it is turn of the Punjab province to lead federation in a capacity of President.
He said that newly formed United Businessman Group (UBG) led by Iftikhar Ali Malik had clean sweep with overwhelming majority in all chamber and association elections and it is understood that their nominees will be voted to power.
Chief Executive,Trade Development Authority Pakistan,S.M.Munir who is also patron-in-chief of UBG told APP that the best candidates with consensus and consultation with UBG Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik will be fielded for the seats of President,SVP and VPs.
He said that all candidates backed and supported by UBG, comfortably won chamber of commerce and industry elections throughout the country.
He said that “we have also convened a group meeting on Oct 9 at Karachi to work out a strategy for federation election and opinion of the group members will also be elicited for finalization of the candidates”.
He said that young educated candidates, will be considered on merit.
SM Munir said that all provinces will be given representation in the forthcoming annual elections of the federation.
He congratulated all the newly elected office bearers of the chambers and associations and hoped that they will live upto the aspirations of their voters and strive hard for the progress, prosperity and industrialization in the country.
