5 killed, 25 injured in Quetta suicide attack

QUETTA: At least five persons, including women and a child, were killed and 25 injured in a suicide attack in Hazara Town here Saturday.

“The sucide bomber detonated explosives in a crowded market of Aliabad in Hazara Town, killing 5 persons and leaving 25 others injured,” Capital City Police Officer, Abdul Razaq Cheema, told APP.

Referring hospital reports, he said the condition of an injured woman at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) was serious.

The market was crowded as a large number people were shopping for Eid at the time of attack, the CCPO said.

Soon after the incident, police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the site of suicide blast and shifted the injured to the Bolan Medical Complex and CMH.

Emergency was declared in all the government hospitals. Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch condemned the attack and expressed the resolve that no one would be allowed to disturb peace.

He expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and directed the health authorities to provide the best medical treatment to the injured.

Meanwhile, Hazara Democratic Party also condemned the attack.
