LAHORE: Rescue operation in province is continue while this process in South and Upper Punjab would be completed on Thursday.
It was stated by Punjab Cabinet Committee for Flood Relief chairman Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada, spokesman Punjab Government Zaeem Hussain Qadri and provincial food minister Bilal Yaseen while addressing a press conference here Wednesday.
Shuja said that 274 people including children died due to flood and rains in the province, while an amount of Rs 1.6 million per person have been distributed among more than eighty percent deceased families of flood-hit areas.
He told media that district administration, Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122 and NGOs were busy in rescue operation in 21 districts of the province.
Bilal Yaseen said that tents, food hampers, meals and other necessary items were being provided to the affectees.
Zaeem Qadri said that rehabilitation work has already been started in all affected areas including Sialkot, Gujranwala and Faisalabad districts.
He said that Punjab government was engaged in relief and rescue of the flood affectees through 17 helicopters of Army and 300 boats.
