KARACHI: Inspector General Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed the police officers to prepare a contingency plan having extra-ordinary security measures, for Eid-ul-Azha and present it to him.
He said that the contingency plan should have the details for the setting up of pickets in the city, particularly in the troubled areas, deployment of additional police force, snap checking, mobile van and motorcycle patrolling, said a handout issued here on Saturday.
The IGP Sindh also called for taking all possible steps to ensure coordination at Range, Zone and district levels.
Ghulam Haider Jamali said that fool-proof measures should be taken at police station levels regarding Eid congregations, animals ‘sacrifice, hides collection.
He directed that lists of all mosques, Imambargahs and Eidgahs in the province should be compiled and they should be divided in normal, sensitive and highly sensitive categories and steps should be taken to deploy local police and police commandos.
Moreover, he said that the official responsibilities of all SSPs, SPs and SHOs should be noted down in the contingency plan to ensure protection to life and property of the masses.
Ghulam Haider Jamali also called for the deployment of policemen in plainclothes at public places, shopping centers, cattle markets and Eidgahs.
The IGP Sindh said that under the contingency plan, special measures should be taken to ensure implementation of the ban on carrying weapons or sticks on Eid-ul-Azha.
He also called for holding meetings with religious parties and social welfare organizations regarding implementation of code of conduct about the collection of hides.
