MULTAN: Provincial Minister for Prisons, Chaudhry Abdul Waheed Aaraen said that flood could affect over 100,000 people in the district and urged people in the river areas to vacate their house at the earliest.
Addressing press conference on Sunday, he said that 900,000 cusec water would pass through Head Trimmu shortly. He recalled that over 300,000 cusec water had made its way from the Chenab last year and caused huge losses.
He added that there would be gigantic flow of water in the river with in next few days.
He said the district administration had completed all possible arrangements for rescuing people from the areas.
He said that five companies of Pakistan Army would also serve in Multan for rescuing and shifting people to safer places.
About cuts in rivers to save important places, he remarked that they had an option for a breach at Head Muhammad Wala and Sher Shah Bridge.
The provincial minister also urged Ulema and mediapersons to create awareness amongst people to vacate their house in flood-prone areas.
