ISLAMABAD: Former skipper Shoaib Malik feels it is now the time for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selectors to find the best playing XI for the next year’s World Cup and stick to them.
Shoaib Malik said if we won’t be sure about our playing XI we stand nowhere and then to expect much from the Pakistani team in the World Cup won’t be good.
“We should play the playing XI for the next year’s World Cup consistently despite of their performance,” he said while talking to a private news channel.
Shoaib said there is no point of changing your skipper just days before the mega event. “Shahid Afridi is the best man to lead Pakistan in the mega event,” he said adding Afridi is an aggressive captain and knows how to lead the team.
Shoaib said it is Afridi’s last World Cup, so he will work hard to win it.
“Misbah is defensive in his approach. Misbah has to think out of the box and play with a positive mindset,” he said adding for the World Cup, we need at least 2-3 batsmen and 2-3 bowlers to remain consistent throughout the event.
Shoaib said a target of 270-280 is not easy to chase and you need consistent performers for it. “Saeed Ajmal’s return will boost Pakistan’s chances in the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka,” he said adding that he deems Mohammad Irfan and Saeed Ajmal as wicket-taking options.
