Three killed, eight injured in Indian shelling

SIALKOT:  At least three people were killed and eight others injured in unprovoked Indian shelling in border areas of Bajra Garhi, Charwah and Sajeet Garh sectors.

According to senior officials of Chenab Rangers, the BSF had fired mortars and intensified firing from 1.00 am to 7.00 am on Saturday.

As a result, Imdad Hussain (56), Nazia Bibi (35) and Asghar Ali (37) were killed while Rukhsana, Somia, Sumaira, Ibrahim, Muhammad Afzal, Waris Ali, Shahnawaz, Sughrain Bibi were injured.

The Chenab Rangers responded effectively and silenced the Indian guns.

Talking to APP, SHO Afzal, PS Sabz Pir Sialkot, said the Indian shelling had also damaged lives and property of locals.

“We are collecting evidences after the firing,” he said. Ilyas, a relative of Imdad who was killed in Indian firing, told APP that Imdad had gone outside of his house at around 4.00 am when an Indian morter shell hit him.
