Qadri spends charity funds on his luxuries, politics

LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran funds, raised on religious basis, are being misused by its Chairman Allama Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on his luxuries and so-called revolution under Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) for political mileage.

Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Higher Education and Youth Affairs, MPA Syed Zaem Hussain Qadri expressed these views while talking to APP here Tuesday.

He said, that these funds are being spent on a nefarious campaign to derail the democratic setup and create anarchy in Pakistan.

To a question, Zaem Hussain said, “Muslims donate their hard-earn money to Minhaj-ul-Quran for the collective good and their Muslim brethren’s well-being across the world but Dr Qadri has turned it into an easy source to make his personal property from the funds.”

He cited the PAT chief had recently purchased a luxurious and bullet-proof vehicle worth millions of rupees and a farmhouse in Lahore to maintain his luxury life as well as bullet-proof containers used in the self-styled protest march.

“It could be judged from the fact that Dr Qadri has no mega business or trade anywhere in the world and everyone can easily understand which money is being spent on the so-called revolutionist (Dr Qadri), who never opted to leave his even a single luxury and had the art and intention to instigate his innocent followers to spill their blood for his vested interests and evil designs,” said Zaem Hussain.

The CM’s Special Assistant stressed the need for a third-party audit to gauge transparency and fairness in funds raised in the name of Minhajul Quran as well as making public details of its funds collection and expenditures on a regular basis.
