RAWALPINDI: Political and Religious circles Wednesday criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek sit-ins and termed them as absurd and undemocratic.
Former Member Provincial Assembly and PML (N) leader, Agha Raiz ul Islam said that Imran Khan’s call for civil disobedience and PAT, PTI sit-ins in front of Parliament would damage democratic system in the country.
He said “In civilized societies it never happened that a few thousand of people carry out March and asked for resignation from an elected prime minister”.
He said democratic government must give time to resolve the confronting issues.
He said the nation was already in a state of war and our forces were out against militants in operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’.
“Can we support and strengthen our army without paying taxes”, he questioned.
Commenting on Qadri’s charter of demands, Member central Executive committee of Pakistan People’s Party, Qazi Sultan Mehmood said it was a conspiracy against the democracy and vowed to foil it with the help of democracy-loving forces.
He said, under the prevailing situation, the country cannot afford derailment of democracy.
He said, his party would never support any extra-constitutional act and urged the government to tackle the “Azadi” and “Inqilab” marches sensibly.
Deputy Scertary General of Wafaq ul Madars, Qazi Abdul Rashid said It was not appropriate time to come on the roads with an aim to derail democracy.
He said that the nation would not accept any imported revolution. Head of Jammat Ahl-e-Sunat ,Maulana Aziz u Rehman Hazarvi said that political leaders should set an example for general public by abiding by the rule of law as people look towards them for seeking guidance.
