KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNAs Nawab Yousuf Talpur, Ijaz Jakhrani and Imran Zafar Leghari Saturday said that the people have rejected the hollow slogans of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehrik’s (PAT) leaders.
In a joint statement, the PPP leaders said that the democratic institutions came into being after a long public struggle and they will themselves protect them.
They said, in this information age, the media keep public abreast of facts, so people cannot be trapped by hollow slogans of so called revolutionaries.
They urged PTI chief Imran Khan to wind up his march, go to help rain affected people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and make preparations for 2018 general elections.
The PPP legislators expressed that people will reject such politicians in 2018 elections who are staging “dramas” of march and sit-ins.
Meanwhile, the Incharge of the PPP Media Cell, Senator Saeed Ghani, has condemned PAT chief Tahir-ul-Qadri’s unconstitutional demand for the dissolution of parliament and provincial assemblies.
Talking to APP, he said that the elected representatives do not need to seek certificate of honesty from Qadri.
He said that Qadri does not have any place in Pakistan’s politics, as he is bent upon harming democracy in the country.
About the PTI, he said that it is a political party and its members were elected to parliament, therefore, the government should consider the party’s those demands which are genuine and constitutional.
