RAWALPINDI: The residents of Kotli Sattain attacked the police station and thrashed Station House Officer (SHO) who allegedly uttered objectionable remarks against the Satti caste here on Wednesday.
The protestors also blocked Kotli Sattian and Lehterar Road for traffic movement and chanted slogans against Rawalpindi police and demanded Chief Minister and Inspector General of Police Punjab to take action.
According to details, SHO PS Kotli Sattian Raja Lehrasib invited two parties, who were in litigation over property, for settlement. During the conversations, Raja used derogatory language against the Satti caste which infuriated the elders of the area.
They later gathered in a place and attacked police station and thrashed the SHO. Heavy contingent of police were sent to Kotli Sattian, led by SP (Saddar) Dr Ghayas, to control the situation.
Talking to APP, City Police Officer CPO Hamyun Bashir Tarar said that action would be taken against the responsible without any discrimination.
