RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was taking concrete steps to make the country prosperious under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to newsmen at the flag hoisting ceremony held here in connection with the Independence Day celebrations, Pervaiz Rashid said
“Our forefathers had got a separate homeland through a democratic and constitutional process instead of protests and long marches.”
He said the PML-N did not believe in vandalism as the forefathers of its workers had made an undaunted political and democratic struggle for the homeland instead of blaming others and holding protests.
The PML-N had always followed the path of achieving political gains through democratic ways not through protests, he added.
The minister said Imran Khan, Tahir-ul- Qadri and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain would have to take the responsibility to maintain peace during their protest or march. There should not be any terror activity in the guise of rallies and protests, he warned.
He said renowned international economists, media and organizations had acknowledged that Pakistan was moving fast towards economic stability and prosperity. Quoting Nelson Survey, Perviaz Rashid said the people of the country had spent Rs 800 billion on Eid shopping, which reflected that they were earning handsome amount.
About the energy crisis, he said several projects, including hydro-electric and coal projects were underway to overcome the electricty shortage.
He urged the people to hoist flags on their rooftops on Independence Day and revive patriotism.
