KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has always stood by the people of Pakistan whether it’s a relief operation during natural disasters or bringing back the standard Pakistanis to join their loved ones.
On the instructions of Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, PIA has decided to operate special flights to Libya to bring back the stranded Pakistanis. The first Boeing-747 relief flight landed at Lahore airport at 12.15 pm on Thursday bringing 500 Pakistanis to their homeland.
On their arrival at Lahore airport District Manager PIA Muhammad Umer Draz, Station Manager Manzoor Hussain Jr, Ticket Office Manager Israr Ul Haq and Public Relations Manager Athar Hasan Awan welcomed the passengers.
Stranded Pakistanis thanked the Prime Minister for his concern to bring them back home and they also appreciated PIA for operating the flight in a war zone.
A PIA spokesperson said that more flights will be operated to bring other stranded Paksitanis from Libya.
On the eve of Independence Day of Pakistan flag hoisting ceremonies wre held at PIA offices all across the country. At airline’s Head Office Managing Director PIA Shah Nawaz Rehman hoisted the national flag. He also informed that the recently acquired aircraft A320 on wet lease has been added to PIA fleet and started its schedule flights.
