ISLAMABAD: The National Highways Authority (NHA)has prepared a plan to computerize all its toll plazas on national highways to ensure transparency in the toll collection system.
An official of NHA informed Wednesday that tax collected at the toll plazas being the main source of income for the NHA,it has decided bring transparency in its tax collection system.
“Decision has been made to make the toll collection system more transparent by introducing computerized collection system which would nearly double the revenue”, he added.
To a question he said that the toll plazas located on motorways are already electronic while some plazas on national highways have also been computerized.
Replying to a question,he said income from weigh stations, police fine and private businesses set up on the NHA’s right-of-way were other sources of income for the authority and transparency was being brought there as well.
The NHA official said that recent reforms in the shape of key performance indicators have been introduced in the NHA and all sections concerned asked to submit monthly performance reports.
