KU teachers felicitated for being awarded with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz

KARACHI: Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Dr Mohammad Qaiser has felicitated teachers of the university who are among the national award recipients for 2014.

In a statement on Thursday he said the announcement made by the government to confer “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” upon Prof Shakil Aauj, Dean,Faculty of Islamic Studies and Chairman, Mass Communication Department,in recognition of their services was an honour for Karachi University itself.

Dr Qaiser also congratulated former head of the university’s journalism department, Dr Zakaria Sajid for being selected for Tamgha e Imtiaz in recognition of his contribution to promote journalism on strong lines in the country.

He said this is also a measure of immense pleasure for all those who are or had been associated with Karachi University.

He said contribution of the three recipients in the field of education and training of youth was known to the entire country.

The recipients of national awards announced by the government on

Independence Day 2014 will receive the same on March 23 next year.

Dr Shakil Aauj is author of different books and had received D.Lit degree only recently.

Prof Dr Tahir Masood, the chairman of KU Mass Communication Department, also a known columnist, has penned 10 books till date.

Prof Zakaria Sajid is also the founder of Pakistan Press Institute.
