ISLAMABAD: Iranian athlete has grabbed a gold medal on the 2nd day of Astana Taekwondo Grand Prix.
On the second day of Kazakhstan Grand Prix Taekwondo Competitions in Astana, Iranian athletes grabbed one gold and one silver medals, Media reported.
Mehdi Khodabakhshi defeated his rival Steven Lopez – five time world champion with three Olympic medals – in the final competition to catch the gold medal in the minus 80-kilogram class; Khodabakhshi added 40 points to his Olympics records.
Farzan Ashurzadeh was defeated by Ching Yung from Taiwan and got silver medal in the minus 58-kilogram class.
The 2014 World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Grand Prix 2 kicked off on Friday in Astana, Kazakhstan.
