LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said the government is spending Rs 274 billion on the education sector.
Talking to delegations at his residence here Tuesday, he said the Punjab government considered education a tool to development and record funds had been provided for school and higher education.
He said the government was encouraging NGOs as well as education institutions for creating awareness about fatal diseases. He said the Punjab government had provided additional funds for the provision of health services in Punjab. By increasing the health budget up to Rs 121.80 billion, the government has ensured modern health facilities and free medicines as well as air-conditioning in general wards.
